Meet Toshi Butlin

Hi, My name is Toshi Butlin and I am a 19-year-old rugby union player sharing my journey with you!

Born and raised in Australia, I first stepped onto the footy field at 7 years old, playing rugby league. That all changed when I was 12, playing my first game of rugby and beginning my rugby journey at Brisbane State High School in Queensland. Now, I am overseas in France playing for Top 14 club, Section Paloise, chasing a professional career! Over my time being surrounded in a world of rugby, I've read my fair share of rugby articles, blogs and news sites made by journalists and even fans, but I've never quite found a relatable perspective of the game told to you by a current player - so heres where I begin!

 

In a world run by views and numbers, we are so used to big name journalist jumping onto negative bandwagons and pushing damaging narratives against our game and players. A game is won by more than just a star player and decisions are made for more than just the satisfaction of viewers. The players behind the jersey have a heart, a story and a life beyond the number on their back.

I want to share my journey with you guys and change the future of world rugby and how its documented. Playing academy rugby in both Australia and France, I seek to bring my experiences and professional insight onto your screens.
